DAYNA CALLAWAY
Yoga Asana, Sequencing, Marketing Your Trade I've been teaching group fitness since I left my full time marketing job in 2013. In theory, I was supposed to be staying home with the 6 kids in my very Brady-bunch like family (yes, there are 6 kids!), but fitness became my escape. I started at the YMCA in Markham with a “learn to teach group fitness course.” The first class I fell in love with was very old school step aerobics. I quickly became a certification junkie, and started teaching hi-lo aerobics, bootcamps, muscle conditioning classes, barre and yoga. MELANIE SCHORR
Yoga Asana & Teaching Techniques Ashtanga, Based, Hatha, Anatomy, Alignment Melanie Schorr is a certified yoga instructor & has 18+ years of international experience. After a bad car accident with severe whiplash, broken bones and other injuries, Melanie gave up physiotherapy and Pilates a try, but, being both an energetic gym rat and runner, found it a bit boring. My physiotherapist recommended yoga and that sparked the start of my yoga career. She took a trip to India where she introduced by a friend and well-known yoga teacher from San Francisco to one of her great teachers; Vijay Amar and spent 2 months training with Vijay in McLeod Ganj and another 3 months of training at 7-8 hours daily focusing on anatomy and alignment while practicing yoga and learning the art of yoga. She started teaching Hatha classes on Koh Phangan in Thailand at The Yoga Studio. She is very well versed in because of all the injuries and the physiotherapy she did for herself. As she continued to run the yoga studio on Koh Phangan, and offering yoga retreats throughout the country. She has taught both group and private classes, as well as specialised one-one-one sessions with people that had injuries. She is trained and experienced in pre-and post-natal classes (mostly private sessions). In 2009 she opened a second branch in Khao Lak, going back and forth between the 2 schools in high/low seasons. As a result of too much demand in Koh Phangan I closed the second location in 2011. She spent another 5 weeks training in to further her own practice in Ashtanga Yoga and continued her teachings at her school on Koh Phangan. Over time, Melanie, sold her studio to return to Canada and now teaches privately and has joined Markham Yoga Wellness to share her education and teachings. Melanie is an expectionally strong teacher with and solid understanding of anatomy and energetics. Her experience is first-class and we are beyond thrilled to have such a solid teacher join our trainings. |
