Nature's New Year

Ah fall. The summer is beginning to cool off, the kids are back in school and everyone starts to settle into new routines for the last few months of the year. It always feels like a fresh start whenever the leaves begin to change and the air gets cooler. We've come to realize that fall is kind of like "Nature's New Year" as it begins to shift in another way, making room for what's to come in the winter. Since we're starting new habits this year, wanted to share some of our fave ways to ring in Nature's New year!
We love building better habits and routines here so we wanted to list out a few our of our faves below!
  1. Start small - when it comes to starting routines and new goals we recommend starting small giving yourself some room to achieve them. Want to drink more water daily? Try giving yourself a daily goal of 1L a day for a week and see how you feel - gradually increase to your desired amount for your body type and size.
  2. Habit stacking - while this isn't a totally new concept, it's something we've tried to implement recently. Habit stacking is kind of like giving yourself a 'reward' for accomplishing said habit. For example, walking the kids to school but then taking an extra walk around the block and ending it with a tea from a local cafe or your fave coffee shop! It's a great way to get in more steps, start the day with some movement but also give yourself a small treat.
  3. Track your progress - sometimes you just need to write things down for them to stick! Like building out a shopping list for groceries each week, try writing down some goals and track your progress daily.
  4. Be kind to yourself with these new habits! - We're all for bettering yourself and building better habits. But don't forget to practice some kindness to yourself as you start to make some small changes here and there. Just because you don't hit your goal one day doesn't mean that the entire week is off. You can always do better tomorrow.
  5. Find your community - we find that when starting new habits (like workout routines) community is best! It's amazing to find a group of individuals that support your goals to bettering yourself.  Our community of yogis offers virtual yoga and mediation online a few times a week, so getting started on a routine in only 30 minutes a day can be a great way to start!
