While YTTs have always traditionally been taught in person, the pandemic has forced us to pivot everything and this includes how we teach our YTTs. Luckily for us, teaching virtual YTT has been a beautiful experience that has truly helped our grads with their cueing! Keep reading to learn more! YTT is a beautiful experience, one that truly allows for the student to truly grow in their yoga practice as well as open their eyes to a more spiritual style of living. One of the things we teach our students is how to cue and teach others in their poses.
While others may have an opinion that learning YTT online does not provide the same experience at in person, we'd like to debate that by saying that while each experience is different, learning online has an advantage especially when it comes to cueing. This means that the teacher must have a keener eye to help cue a student into a safer option for their body while also being exact with their cues. You simply cannot say "Now watch me do this..." because the virtual experience is different from teaching in person in this way. Learning YTT completely online means that the cueing will need to be stronger and more descriptive, more exact. We find that our students are walking away with a stronger cueing ability due to learning to teach online. You might be wondering how this translates to in person learning. Well, it actually benefits the in person classes as well! This means that our YTT grads are able to safely describe how to get in and out of each pose safely, complete with options. Ultimately, we believe that the virtual YTT experience has armed our grads with the stronger cueing tools that they need to be able to verbalize any adjustments to their in person classes and even if they continue to teach online!
